Jonny Clayton secured his fourth Euro Tour title with an 8-4 victory over world number two Luke Humphries in Basel, Switzerland. The triumph marks the Welshman's first ranking title of 2026 and ensures his place at the Grand Slam of Darts in November.

Jonny Clayton claimed the Swiss Darts Trophy in Basel, Switzerland, defeating Luke Humphries 8-4 in the final. The triumph represents Clayton's first European title and first ranking victory of 2026, marking his fourth Euro Tour success overall and booking his place at the Grand Slam of Darts in November.
The final remained evenly matched in the early stages, with world number two Humphries producing superior scoring while Clayton relied on sharper finishing on the doubles. After nine consecutive holds of throw, the decisive breakthrough arrived in the 10th leg when Clayton took out 26 to gain the upper hand. He then consolidated the break by pinning tops before completing an 8-4 win by taking out 46 on double 16.
Following his triumph, Clayton reflected on the contest, noting that missed doubles from Humphries opened the door for his victory. He emphasized that winning major tournaments requires overcoming the game's top, in-form competitors, adding that securing the trophy provided both a significant boost in confidence and qualification for the Grand Slam.
Clayton advanced to the final following a 7-4 semi-final win over world number three Gian van Veen. Averaging 105, Clayton turned the match in his favor with a 161 checkout on the bullseye for the opening break. He maintained a two-leg buffer as Van Veen struggled on the outer ring, eventually sealing victory on double four. Clayton had opened his evening in the quarter-finals by beating Karel Sedlacek 6-2, stringing together two separate runs of three consecutive legs and registering three breaks of throw.
Humphries earned his spot in the final with a 7-4 semi-final win against Mensur Suljovic, producing an average of 111.17. Despite falling 2-0 behind, Humphries answered by winning four consecutive legs courtesy of three 13-dart legs and a 14-darter. The players then exchanged breaks of throw across five straight legs before Humphries held his throw in the 11th leg to close out the match. In the quarter-finals, Humphries overcame Cristo Reyes 6-3, winning four of the last five legs as his scoring power decided the contest.
Earlier in the tournament's quarter-final stage, Suljovic reached his first Euro Tour semi-final since 2021 by defeating Dirk van Duijvenbode 6-1, taking four straight legs from 2-1 ahead. Van Veen also progressed from the last eight by overturning a three-leg deficit to edge Bradley Brooks 6-5 in a deciding leg.
