Denver Broncos Edge Defending Champion Seattle Seahawks in Overtime Thriller
A dominant defensive effort and a clutch 53-yard field goal from Will Lutz propelled the Denver Broncos to a 17-14 overtime victory against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night. The win improved Denver's record to 4-2 while dropping the defending champions to 3-3. Despite a fourth-quarter comeback by Seattle, an overtime interception paved the way for Denver's decisive kick.

The Denver Broncos relied on a suffocating defensive performance to secure a 17-14 overtime win over Sam Darnold and the defending champion Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night at Mile High Stadium. Kicker Will Lutz sealed the contest by converting a 53-yard field goal in the extra period, improving Denver to 4-2 on the season while handing Seattle their third loss in six games.
Seattle opened the scoring in the first quarter courtesy of a Jason Myers field goal. However, Denver seized control during the second quarter by constructing two touchdown drives. JK Dobbins found the end zone on a four-yard run, followed by a one-yard rushing score from RJ Harvey to give the Broncos the lead.
Denver's offense stalled for the remainder of the night, generating just 168 total yards compared to Seattle's 353. Broncos quarterback Bo Nix experienced an underwhelming outing, throwing for only 107 yards. Despite the offensive struggles, the Broncos defense anchored the team, sacking Darnold five times and picking him off twice. Darnold endured a difficult night, completing 27 of 51 passes with a 52.6 quarterback rating.
Seattle battled back late in regulation. With five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, George Holani capped an 11-play, 67-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run. Darnold subsequently connected with Rashid Shaheed on a tipped catch at the back of the end zone for a successful two-point conversion, narrowing the deficit to three points.
After the Seahawks defense stopped Denver, Shaheed provided excellent field position with a return in the final minute. Myers capitalized by knocking through a 34-yard field goal to send the game into overtime knotted at 14-14.
The momentum shifted back to Denver on Seattle's opening possession of overtime. Broncos cornerback Ja'Quan McMillian intercepted a Darnold pass intended for Shaheed, immediately handing Denver prime field position. Lutz then stepped up to drill the game-winning 53-yard field goal.
