Wardley Energised by Joshua's Presence Ahead of Dubois Showdown
Fabio Wardley has expressed his appreciation for Anthony Joshua's return to trainer Ben Davison's gym as both heavyweights prepare for major bouts. Wardley is gearing up for his rematch with Daniel Dubois, while Joshua readies himself for an upcoming clash against Tyson Fury. The heavyweight contender also mounted a strong defence of his coach following past criticism.

Fabio Wardley has welcomed the return of Anthony Joshua to trainer Ben Davison's camp as preparations intensify for his rematch against Daniel Dubois. The former two-time world champion and Olympic gold medallist has reunited with Davison at their training facility north of London ahead of his scheduled all-British showdown against Tyson Fury, set to take place in Cardiff on December 11.
Wardley revealed that Joshua has spent a significant period back in the training environment, noting that his presence brings an elevated energy and atmosphere that gives the entire gym a lift. According to Wardley, Joshua seamlessly integrated back into the routine, working side-by-side with the rest of the fighters.
Joshua previously separated from Davison after suffering a fifth-round knockout defeat against Dubois in 2024. Davison himself came under heavy scrutiny following Wardley's initial bout with Dubois in Manchester in May, where the trainer chose not to stop the contest despite Wardley absorbing substantial punishment before the referee intervened in the 11th round.
Addressing the backlash, Wardley defended his coach, describing the ongoing criticism directed at Davison as deeply frustrating. Wardley emphasised that he places complete trust in his team, explaining that they know him well and that he was satisfied to have been permitted to continue fighting, as he believed he was still landing clean punches on Dubois into the 10th round.
Dubois, who had previously cited nervous tension as the reason for his sluggish start in their previous encounter following his second loss to undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, is aiming to channel that mindset differently this time. Dubois explained that he experiences daily nerves and views himself as an unpredictable, chaotic force. He noted that he intends to control and direct that intensity into the contest, viewing it as a powerful weapon that enables him to impose pressure and damage on his opponent.
